Dicalcium Phosphate

Kennedy Creek Lime makes a Dicalcium Phosphate (DCP), known as a ‘Brushite’ mineral. This is a unique form of fertiliser for the following reasons:

  • It is insoluble in water yet still in a chemical form so plants can easily access its minerals. DCP greatly reduces unnecessary contamination of creeks, rivers and reef systems
  • A unique mix of phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, silicon and trace elements in a clay-based powder
  • Most phosphorus fertilisers are water soluble and form phosphoric acid in the first watering or rain, creating pH 1.5 for a short period. This acid kills microbes and worms that are responsible for recycling most of the plant’s natural nitrogen and phosphorus fertiliser recycling. The soil pH quickly recovers but the damage to soil microbe life does not recover
  • DCP replaces both the need for Aglime (used to counteract acidifying fertilisers) and any water soluble phosphorus fertiliser. For example, a farmer who uses 200kg/Ha of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) and 1,500kg/Ha Aglime, can now instead use DCP at 1,200t/Ha

Professional Use: for best results, always apply based upon soil test recommendations, based on deficiencies.

Domestic Use: as a general guide, apply two handfuls per square metre per year.

For best results, incorporate into the soil or irrigate following application.

We encourage all users to have their soil tested and apply any product based upon result recommendations.
